Course Summary

This course is intended to help those new to the idea of having their own website. No prior knowledge of the Internet is required and you will not need any ability in IT or mathematics. This course is ideal for anyone intending to create their own site using one of the numerous cheap or free website deals currently available.

This course does not include any coding or instruction in the use of any applications. It is designed to provide a general understanding of what is involved and provide information which will save people money when acquiring a new website.

We find that people who want a website professionally produced also find this course useful for gaining an overview before looking for a designer. For example, it is the website owners responsibility to ensure their website complies with the Disability Discrimination Act but quite a few designers have no knowledge of accessibility. If you do not insist on your site complying with the basic level of accessibility then you cannot complain at a later date. On the basic course you will learn about the DDA and how it applies to the Internet. You will also learn why having a compliant site can produce a large increase in visitors.
